Winter is here

It's official Winter has arrived in Alaska. Fall was brief barely a few weeks. The winds have kicked up and the rain is coming down in sheets here in Ketchikan, meanwhile up north they've had several snow storms, chains are on the tires, and most places have their towns back now that tourist season is through. Yesterday on a medevac we stopped in Juneau and Haines both of which have quite a bit of color change. The wildlife is also out in full force. In Haines, in the alley between the clinic and the neighboring building we spotted a momma moose and her calf. In Anchorage, leaving Providence Hospital two moose we're within arms length of the car along the driveway of the hospital. I made and threw my first snowball of Winter 2008 yesterday from one of the many snowpiles that litered Anchorage International Airport.
