New Meat

So it's fairly obvious that I'm new to this small town. I expected to be seen as an outsider, but I was not prepared for the line of questioning. I expected to be asked about my level of experience, what did I do before this, what kind of education/certifications do I have, why Alaska? I wasn't prepared to be battered with questions pertaining to my personal life. If I had a dollar for the number of times I've been asked are you married? any kids? so no significant other? It's almost nauseating. It's very apparent this is a small town, strangers know my name and that I'm working for Guardian. Word spreads quickly. People here are very straight forward, there is no beating around the bush in Ketchikan. If they have a question they flat out ask. It's very peculiar and a little intimidating to be the "New Meat" in town.

I would expect the first line of questioning, I do think it's strange that they want to know about your personal life...but hopefully since news (obviously) spreads fast, they'll know all the details from eachother soon enough and will stop.
And send a hot lumberjack or mountain man your way too, perhaps. It would only be fair after the interrogation.
