Brown Mountain

View from the top of my mountain (Brown Mountain, Ketchikan)

I'll take a little dirt and gravel over asphalt any day.

Back from Sitka

Just got back into Ketchikan after spending three days in Sitka, AK. One of the medics in Sitka fell and sprained her ankle and tore several ligaments so I spent a few days there covering her shifts. I love Sitka, wish I could of seen more of it though! Spent most of my time flying and the rest sleeping. Go up early this morning and took a little stroll and from what little I got to see, I like Sitka. It's much more laid back and small town feeling. Less transient then Ketchikan. Would love to go back and play! Sorry no pictures, maybe next time I'm in town I'll capture a photo of Mount Edgecumbe (a dormant volcano). Anyways I'll be leaving here tomorrow night taking the red eye home to CAK. See everyone Tuesday!

Pictures From Harriet Hunt Lake. We've have had some strange weather here in Ketchikan, 4 days of sunshine and counting! It's a little chilly, hovering just below 60 but it's sunshine and we'll take it anyway we can get it!

Saguaro National Park

Located outside of Tucson, AZ, home to the Saguaro Cactus which only grows in Arizona, Mexico and a small portion of Southern California. They can grow up to 40+ feet tall and live for 150 years.

Boot Hill Graveyard- Tombstone, AZ

Tombstone, Arizona home of the Earps (Wyatt, Virgil, Morgan, and James) and Doc Holliday. All things that embody the Wild West including Boot Hill Graveyard the final resting place of many of those that crossed paths with the Earps.

Tombstone was not as I had expected. It was sensationalized and truthfully, full of people trying to making a quick buck on the history that lies within the city limits. Initially, I was a little bent by this, but the more I think about it, Tombstone has always been full of deviants and shady characters. It's almost fitting to see that somethings do stay the same.

All the same it was exciting to stand within Boothill Cemetery and look out over the hills and see what drew so many to make the long journey in horse drawn wagons. Like their modern day counterparts, they were looking to make a little cash and maybe turn their luck around.

Sedona, AZ- more pics

Sedona, AZ- Red Rock Country

Sedona is home to Coconino National Forest, also known as Red Rock Country due to the color of the rock formations. Located about two hours north of downtown Phoenix, well worth the drive.

Montezuma's Castle

Montezuma's Castle is located outside Camp Verde, AZ and one of the last remaining cliff dwellings of the Sinagua people. The dwelling was built around 1400 AD. when Europeans found the dwelling in the late 1800's they named in Montezuma's Castle after the Aztec emperor, believing this dwelling had been occupied by Aztecs.

It is unknown why the Sinagua people left their home as it was abandon 1425 AD.

Boring

Yeah I know I've been a slacker, but that's only because I'm boring! Seriously though I've been working since the 19th and only have tomorrow off until I leave for Arizona next week. I really wanted to go fishing tomorrow but I feel guilty for not spending time at the FD, so I'll be there instead. Aside from that I've kind of been a bum sleeping in and being relatively non-productive. We're planning on a having a house warming party in the near future, I'll be sure to post pictures. Hope everyone is doing well. I'd love to hear updates from home, the digits are the same (*hint*hint)
